ORGANIZATION AND MISSION
Character Education Initiatives, LLC (“CEI”) is guided by a vision to improve the quality of life for youth in the city of Detroit and surrounding school districts. We guarantee positive outcomes in the communities that youth will serve by continuously providing opportunities for enhanced self-awareness, self-acceptance, and self-esteem.
Our mission is to strengthen the quality of education for youth by increasing their access to social and emotional learning activities. We seek to create opportunities that build character by utilizing success-based initiatives proven to ensure evidence-based skill development and comprehension.
WHAT WE DO:
Character education (“CE”) is a multi-faceted approach, grounded in research, to the development of positive school improvement and community engagement outcomes. CEI consists of practices and strategies that help schools teach students not only to become smart and responsible, but also to be ethical and caring citizens.
Monica Denise Davie is the only child of two retired, highly decorated, military leaders. She was educated in the Detroit Public School system and is a graduate from historic Cass Technical High School. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Labor Studies and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Wayne State University.
Monica is a dynamic visionary who has dedicated her life to helping young women transcend poverty, rejection, and isolation toward discovery of a new path filled with possibility. As a mentor, Monica works to light these paths and provides inspiration and guidance to make dreams a reality.
